JDI YOUTH EMPOWERMENT THROUGH VOLUNTEERING
The flagship project of this initiative is the Leadership Exchange Programme (LEP). This annual project was launched in 2020 and is designed for 18–25-year-olds to be trained on servant leadership and community building as well as other components of social impact, and then paired with host organisations, where they volunteer for 4 weeks and gain relevant skills.
UNBURDEN GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS
The first cohort of 15 participants was received in October, 2020 and they implemented a community service project that covered a group therapy session for 16 sickle cell warriors. picture With funding from the U.S State Department specifically available to Mandela Washington Fellows, Angela Ochu-Baiye and her accountability partner, N’zani Zani Kassim implemented the LEP in 2021, with an additional focus on peace building and conflict resolution. This time, the cohort consisted of 12 participants.
